Chances are, your IT department is overwhelmed by a variety of never-ending projects. Because of this workload, your team needs to prioritize which tasks get done and when; as a result, they might opt to put off some of the more routine maintenance in favor of completing a more pressing project. In theory, that sounds like a fair way to operate, but if your team is always busy, when do those ongoing, but still important, tasks get done?

Introducing the Tech-a-Day Program

Tech-a-Day is a proactive support program intended to ease the burden of your overloaded team. Under this program, we’ll send the same engineer to your company as often as you choose (once a week, biweekly, monthly, etc.) to perform any number of IT tasks. Most commonly, our engineers perform ongoing health checks of your servers and networks, but we have team members who specialize in the maintenance and development of a variety of software and hardware.
Our goal is to become an extension of your IT team; we want to support your organization’s IT needs so your team can focus on accomplishing its assigned projects.

A Typical Day in the Life of a Tech-a-Day Engineer

We’ll work with you to find the best engineer for your IT needs. From there, our engineer will visit your company on scheduled days (or weeks, or months) to complete their expected list of tasks, which can include (but is not limited to):

  • Server patching
  • Server backups
  • Virtual infrastructure review
  • Storage health checks
  • Switching and border protection firmware
  • Documentation and change management

At any time during our contract, you’re more than welcome to adjust the number of visits you want your dedicated engineer to perform.

Outsourcing vs. Hiring Internally

Especially if you’re hoping for an engineer to come on site to work weekly, you may be wondering what the advantage is to outsourcing this help instead of hiring a new staff member internally. There are a few reasons, the most compelling of which is that outsourcing IT services is the least expensive way to get an engineer on site for eight hours a day. Furthermore, the flexibility of the Tech-a-Day contract allows you to accommodate weeks of heavy workload and then scale back to fewer visits without incurring any sort of financial penalty.

Tech-a-Day also allows you to take advantage of an independent set of eyes that, although initially unfamiliar with your organizational culture, quickly becomes a trusted on-site resource. In this regard, you don’t need to spend time and energy training a new person on your systems because our engineer will already understand how your IT infrastructure functions.

Lastly, our team is backed up by the support of CTI as a whole. If there’s ever an issue that our engineer can’t fix, we can always turn to our network of trusted referrals for assistance. In addition, we continually communicate new updates to our engineers so they can share this knowledge with you and stay up to date on best practices that you may have otherwise overlooked.

Final Thoughts

As your IT partner, we’re always looking for ways to evaluate and improve our services, including our Tech-a-Day program. We’ll work closely with you during our relationship to ensure that your needs are being met and determine if there’s anything we can do better. Even if your engineer is engaged to help with proactive maintenance, we welcome you to reach out to us if you find you need other services as well.

From one day per month to as frequently as every day, CTI’s Tech-a-Day program lets you schedule the same IT engineer on a recurring basis. Having the same engineer working for you means an expert will become familiar with your information technology network and become an extension of your team. Plus, with our program, there’s no need to train someone new because the same person will be dedicated to your enterprise.

With our proactive support agreements, you can rest easy knowing that your systems are better positioned. If we identify a potential vulnerability, we act quickly to make sure systems are properly remediated to prevent issues.
