Geolocation is a subscription service that enables the Firebox to block connections to or from specified geographic locations. When Geolocation is enabled, the Firebox looks up the geographic location of an external source of destination IP address in a database. Exceptions can also be added for sites that do not need to be blocked.
When WatchGuard released the Fireware 11.12 update many new features were introduced, including Geolocation. Geolocation adds a new element of defense to Reputation Enabled Defense, which includes web reputation and botnet detection. With Geolocation, you can prevent malware communication and attacks from areas where you never have any need for legitimate business communication.
